The trend of having overly-long titles continues. Jamie Foxx has been picked up by DreamWorks to topline The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights.

And what's wrong with just The Zebra Murders?

Foxx for The Zebra Murders

Based on the book by Prentice Earl Sanders and Bennett Cohen, The Zebra Murders: A Season of Killing, Racial Madness, and Civil Rights chronicles the series of racially motivated serial killings -- black on white -- that took place in San Francisco in 1973 and 1974. Jamie Foxx will play Sanders, who was one of two black police detectives who led the team that cracked the case. Amid their investigation, Sanders and his partner fought harassment within the police department and organized a union of minority policemen who brought a lawsuit against the city for discrimination, which they ultimately won. Sanders later went on to become chief of police.

Matt Carnahan, who wrote Berg's The Kingdom and UA's Lions for Lambs, is adapting the book for the bigscreen.

Plan B (Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner) will produce alongside Foxx and Jamie Rucker King.

Jamie Foxx has recently become close to DreamWorks. He starred in Collateral for the studio back in 2004 and then Dreamgirls last year. He has since been picked up to star in The Soloist and now this.

Carnahan has two big screenplays in production including State of Play at Universal and White Jazz.
