With so many actors nowadays ending up wearing a cape and tights, one had to wonder when Jake Gyllenhaal would join the bandwagon. Fans of Entourage might remember Brokeback Aquaman, when we learn that 'V' has been replaced by Gyllenhaal (in the show). HBO seems to have the idea on the brain, but what about the actor?
Jake Gyllenhaal Avoids Superheroes
During a recent interview with MTV, Jake Gyllenhaal admits that he has been avoiding the idea of donning tights to play somebody super.
To the profound dismay of young women worldwide, we’ve yet to see Gyllenhaal don shiny tights. And according to the star, if you’re hoping to see him underwater in Justice League, you’d better not hold your breath.
Gyllenhaal claims that he wouldn't mind playing a character who is like a superhero, but just doesn't follow all the cliches of one. You mean like Unbreakable?
Instead, Jake has watched contemporaries like Tobey Maguire, Brandon Routh and Ben Foster land superhero roles - and now he’s at the point where he’d rather play a real-life superman. “I think what I’ve resigned myself to is [thinking about] the world we live in,” he explained. “I think of how a character, in reality, is like a superhero - rather than actually being a superhero.”
What kind of character does Gyllenhaal have in mind? How about a spy?
“I’d love to play a really cool character like Jason Bourne,” he gushed. “Not necessarily a superhero, but definitely a cool character that does great, fun [real-world] action.”
