A lot of male sass is coming our way with Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac teaming up for Dimension Films' Soul Men, a comedy about estranged soul-singing legends going on a reunion tour.
Jackson, Mac for Soul Men
Even though Dimension has the talent ready to go with Jackson and Mac, Soul Men is still lacking a director; a position they are hoping to have filled within the next couple weeks.
Soul Men was scripted by Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone. The same writing team behind the much underrated Intolerable Cruelty.
Jackson and Mac will play two former backup soul singers who are part of a famed group. They haven't spoken to each other in 20 years but reluctantly agree to travel together for a tribute performance in honor of their recently deceased band leader. As added entertainment value, both Mac and Jackson will sing and dance.
Jackson will join up with Soul Men after he wraps Frank Miller's The Spirit. Bernie Mac will be coming off the Walt Becker-directed Disney comedy Old Dogs.
Production on Soul Men will begin on January 15th.
