Journeyman Journeyman

Moon Bloodgood has done two time travel shows in a row. On Daybreak, she was the love interest the day-repeating hero was trying to save. Now on Journeyman, she is a lover from the past who the hero can revisit during his travels. What's the deal, Moon?

The Women of Journeyman

"For me, personally, because I have been asked that before, I love the idea of going back," said Bloodgood. "Everyone looks at their past and has wonders and reflects. What if I would have made this choice? How could I have changed my life? How could I have altered it? That's a big theme for me, looking back. I was drawn to this project because not only its depth, but I was so torn."

See, it's not just going back in time to revisit an old love. The Journeyman is married with kids in the present. "Kevin McKidd's character, Dan Vasser, he sees me in the past, and that's the love of his life, and yet I die in a plane crash. I think there's something tragic and romantic and something everyone can identify with, going into your past and going, 'Did I make the right choices? Should I have walked away from that relationship?' All of those kinds of things that are human elements of it. So I definitely picked this project because I love that element of it."

Gretchen Egolf plays Katie Vassar. Try explaining to your wife why you've been missing for days in the past with an now dead ex. "In terms of character, it's not about her, whether she believes or not," said Egolf. "To a certain extent, it is, but it's not about whether she believes that he's time traveling or not. It's about how she's going to deal with it because this is the reality. This is what we face. This is the situation. This is what he's telling me. So what am I going to do about it right now, not about, 'What are you talking about?' and 'What's the definition of this?'"

That does make Egolf The Time Traveler's Wife, even though this show is unrelated. "That's been the reaction of all of my friends who love the book. They just immediately go, 'Oh, I love that book. Therefore, I would watch that,' but they're very open to the differences as well."

The actors also gave away that Bloodgood's character is a fellow traveler, so things could get more complicated with that revelation. "She's a little more experienced," said Bloodgood. "I don't want to give a lot away, but she's a little more experienced than Dan, so she has a bit of a bigger picture, but there are still questions that aren't answered for her. So even though they are sort of on this journey together and she's not a ghost, it will be explained why they're in each other's lives, why she's coming back, why that relationship exists."

Journeyman premieres September 24th on NBC.
