You know there’s a dude in Nikita also. It’s not just hot girls kicking butt. Shane West plays the recruiter for the secret organization that trains criminals into spies. It’s the fourth version of the story, after two movies and a previous TV series.
Shane West on Nikita
“I was a fan of the original film,” West said. “I didn't see the American remake, and I saw a little bit of the first series. I also worked with Peta Wilson, so I had experience in actually seeing that show when it was out at the time.”
In The CW incarnation, Michael (West) is a young Shane West type. “I know the Michaels that have gone through these projects, and because it's retelling and a reimagining, I didn't really want to do too much research on these past characters because I wanted to give it a fresh take as well. But I wanted to take something from each one and it's also a different age. You know, if you watch Besson’s film, he’s definitely not 32. And it was French.”
By the time this Nikita stars, Nikita (Maggie Q) is already taking the game to Michael trying to take his organization down. “To me, it was a great opportunity, kind of where I've come from and where I started and grew up on television with Once and Again. This was an opportunity to kind of be the adult and give my interpretation towards Michael.”
