Flight of the Conchords
I guess one positive side to Flight of the Conchords canceling their own series is that the complete collection comes out much sooner. This set has both previously released complete seasons, and a 30 minute TV special of their 2005 concert.
Flight of the Conchords on DVD
Season one has some of my favorite episodes like “Yoko” where Bret’s girlfiend causes problems for the band. It was the first episode I saw and it has “If You’re Into It.” Season two actual extras, including deleted scenes (more Conchords humor) and features spotlighting the show.
So I guess the main asset of this collection, because just keeping the whole series in one place, is the One Night Stand. I didn’t even know they still did One Night Stand in 2005. They do songs that were never on the show, so I’d never heard them before.
It’s the same call and response humor with actual good music behind it. Other songs I did know get played acoustically and sound beautiful. Of course the formal stage theatrical setting creates a different sort of banter than the plot-driven dialogue of the show.
So the answer to what’s a worthwhile extra to Flights of the Conchords is: more Flight of the Conchords. That’s what this collection gives you.
