Mission Impossible III
You know when you keep telling somebody something, as in reconfirming something, it begins to make whatever that "something" is sound more and more doubtful? So is the case for Tom Cruise's involvement in Mission Impossible IV. We've been told repeatedly that Cruise has been "confirmed" for the sequel, but Paramount seems to be holding back. So - What are they waiting on?
Tom Cruise Confirmed and Confirmed Again for Mission Impossible IV
Paramount has confirmed that Tom Cruise will be back for Mission: Impossible IV, but the franchise might have to wait on the final (international) numbers for Knight & Day as an indicator of Cruise's current box office draw.
"We absolutely are excited about having Tom Cruise star in this movie," is how Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore put it Tuesday.
Really? Then what's the hold up?
"It all depends on whether Tom Cruise brings in foreign bucks," said one executive not associated with the project.
According to insiders, Paramount is even considering re-casting the role of Ethan Hunt. How is that possible considering that Cruise has been confirmed for the return? Er, we don't necessarily know, but at least Tom Cruise is on to the studio's game and is still seeking other employment options.
