We all knew this featurette was coming for The Sorcerer's Apprentice. That is, unless you have never heard of a little animated film called Fantasia.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice Featurette Acknowledges Fantasia

Yes, The Sorcerer's Apprentice is based on probably the most popular animated skit from Fantasia; though the film is a HUGE reimagining of the idea. With the film's release now less than a month out, Disney has decided to discuss it's relation to the original concept. Check it out below (via TrailerAddict):

BALTHAZAR BLAKE “The Sorcerer” (Nicolas Cage) is a student of Merlin and a Sorcerer. More than 1,000 years old, Balthazar has been searching the globe until he finds the Prime Merlinean, the descendent of Merlin and inheritor of his great powers. When Balthazar finally discovers him in 10-year-old Dave Stutler, he finds himself with a very reluctant sorcerer’s apprentice.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice opens to theaters on July 16th.
