Universal Pictures has made some big steps forward in terms of their upcoming Stretch Armstrong project. After picking up Taylor Lautner to star a while back, the studio has now landed themselves both a writer and director.

Stretch Armstrong Movie Gets Nick Stoller (Writer) and Rob Letterman (Direct)

Universal Pictures has picked up Nick Stoller to rewrite and Rob Letterman to helm Stretch Armstrong. Brian Grazer has been producing the project since last summer.

The project, whose plot details are being kept under wraps, will mark a reteaming of Letterman and Stoller, who penned the Letterman-helmed comedy Gulliver's Travels. Steve Oedekerk wrote the original screenplay of Stretch, which is based on Hasbro's enduring action figure.

Letterman also recently directed DreamWorks Monsters vs. Aliens.
