American Idol: Season 9 Top 10 Girls

Haeley Vaughn – “The Climb” Miley Cyrus – flat, good for a high school talent show – Randy said didn’t work for me, excruciating, so pitchy, no connection with the song – Ellen said adorable, didn’t connect with the song, memorized it and sang it, didn’t work out – Kara said always smiling on stage, need about a year of strengthening your instrument, great spirit – Simon said complete and utter mess, should have worked.

Paige Miles – “Walk Away” Kelly Clarkson - bad song choice, really bubble gum, didn’t show off her voice - Randy said likes it wasn’t in love, big voice, not the best choice, wanna hear the big notes – Ellen said loved it, fantastic, liked everything you did, changed it enough to make it yours, had fun – Kara said see you having a hit with that song, missed the connecting, did have some moments – Simon said agree with Randy, two weeks in a row failed to pick a good song, making bad decisions.

Lacey Brown – “Kiss Me” Sixpence None the Richer – tough start, got better as it went along, has a sweetness to voice – Randy said good choice but karaoke, didn’t do anything special with it – Ellen said didn’t change it up but adorable, right song – Kara said last week losing your tone, brought it back this week, but have to step it up from here – Simon said marginally better than last week, not showcasing as an artist, won’t remember it.

Didi Benami – “Lean on Me” Bill Withers – bad choice, painful in parts, love the tone of her voice, hoped she would do better – Randy said should not have chosen soul song, shows your imperfections – Ellen said love your voice, not greatest song choice – Kara said wasn’t good, lost the uniqueness, still a fan – Simon said all over the place, screeching, bad song choice, wasted opportunity.

Michelle Delamor – “With Arms Wide Open” Creed – interesting interpretation of song, some bum notes toward end – Randy said outfit hot, didn’t do enough with song, fell flat – Ellen said look fabulous, forgot for a few moments it was a rock song, some pitch problems – Kara said my favorite performance from you, not technically perfect, did something different with song – Simon said first half stronger than second half, got 80% of it right.

Katie Stevens – “Put Your Records On” Corinne Bailey Rae – fell short on some notes, maybe too ambitious, but beautiful voice – Randy said some bright moments, believable, you can tackle bigger songs – Ellen said great voice, sang it well, don’t want to hear something from the dentist office – Kara said frustrated with you, need to open up, still waiting for that moment with you – Simon said you did take notes, what kind of artist do you want to be, not a winning performance.

Lilly Scott – “A Change is Gonna Come” Sam Cooke – nice, clean performance, so different – Randy said most unique contestant, you do your thing, worked it out, my favorite performance tonight – Ellen said you have got it best performance of night so far, forgot it was a singing competition – Kara said just had your first moment, thank god you tried out, good job – Simon said though it was good, not as crazy about it as the others.

Katelyn Epperly – “The Scientist” ColdPlay – on piano, beautiful voice and range, technically fab – Randy said liked it, way slow but liked it, nice to hear you play piano – Ellen said like you playing, so slow, people can’t vote if they’re asleep – Kara said kind of love you, incredible instrument, all over the place but really good, figure out who you are quick – Simon said smart choice of song, made you contemporary, million times better than last week.

Siobhan Magnus – “Think” Aretha Franklin – fun, perky, a wow note, great voice - Randy said so bold it was dope, slayed it, loved it – Ellen said loved it, that was good – Kara said can’t get over that note, don’t know how you do that – Simon said a strange person, parts were terrible, bit that note incredible you are talented.

Crystal Bowersox - “As Long as I See the Light” CCR – with guitar, clear, pure, best performance of the season thus far – Randy said truth is reality, you are truth, I love you are not trying to be anybody else, love that girl – Ellen said pure, raw, natural talent, glad you are here today, you are amazing – Kara said completely recovered from last week, effortless, coming from your heart, hit a new level – Simon said didn’t play the sympathy thing, picked great song, vocal incredible, a serious artist.
