Helen Mirren is getting into comics! While I can't confirm that she is actually reading any, she has agreed to join Summit Entertainment's espionage thriller Red, where she will star alongside Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.

If I could make a quick little note, I would say that it is good to see Summit Entertainment continuing to branch out into genres. They seem to be trying everything and, if they can learn a bit of patience, we should start seeing a nice collection of films from the studio. But I digress...
Directed by Robert Schwentke off a script by brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber, Red is a three-book series that follows a former black-ops CIA agent who lives a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him.
Red is prepping to enter production in January in Toronto and Louisiana. Feeling somewhat rushed -- see, patience -- Summit's set a domestic launch of November 19th, 2010.
