Angelina Jolie
Who knew that the Gucci fashion line had so much drama? Okay, I'm sure there was tons of drama, but the kind that covers murder also? Whoa. Hoping to tell the story properly, Ridley Scott has reached out to Angelina Jolie to play a title role.
Angelina Jolie Tries on Gucci
If she signs on, Jolie will play what is described as a femme fatale role in Gucci, a film that covers murder and decadence in the Gucci fashion dynasty. Fox is hoping to get the project into production in 2010 and, if all goes to plan, Jolie will play Patrizia Gucci, who was sentenced to 29 years in jail for plotting the murder of her ex, Maurizio Gucci.
Fox recently began the hunt for a scribe to rewrite the script, which should cover the glamorous days of the Gucci family dynasty in the 1970s and 80s, when the family was selling $500 million in product annually. Squabbles hobbled the clan until Maurizio, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, came out on top of a power struggle to run the family business. Just when he was about to reestablish the brand name by debuting a line designed by newcomer--and now film director--Tom Ford, Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.
With some time available thanks to an unpolished script, Scott has also begun his search for Maurizio. It is told that he has already approached Leonardo DiCaprio for the role, though nothing so far has come of it.
