Chris Pine is two days for two this week in terms of casting updates. After successfully helping reboot the Star Trek franchise, Paramount is hoping that the actor will give them similar success for the Jack Ryan franchise that spawned off the Tom Clancy novels.

But what happened to Ben Affleck? Doesn't matter, I guess, as Chris Pine will likely make a better candidate for the part. Besides, Affleck already had his shot. Pine is expected to come aboard, and Paramount recently released an official announcement on the matter:
"Tom Clancy created an unforgettable character with Jack Ryan. With Chris in this role, we've taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise."
Confident, eh? Getting the ball rolling, the studio and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini, based on an original concept.
While franchise scheduling conflicts could be an issue, at least they are all with Paramount.
