Megan Fox gets to be the centerpiece of Jennifer's Body. She’s Jennifer and it’s her body. With a script from Diablo Cody and directing by Karyn Kusama, Fox just hoped she did a good job.
Megan Fox on Jennifer's Body
“[Kusama] was really calm and really gracious with us as actors and gave us the opportunity to do what we wanted in a scene which is not really normal for most directors,” Fox said. “I felt like when I met with her, she had a storyboard of all these different pictures that she had cut out that to me was mind blowing how well she was interpreting Diablo’s script. I think we all just wanted to do it justice and not f*ck it up.”
When Jennifer’s body gets all demonic, Fox endured a minor amount of effects work. “We did a little bit of a prosthetic. We created an entire dental set for me to put in for when Jennifer is actually eating the boys. What happens to her jaw unclenches kind of like a snake so that she can fully envelop them in her mouth. There wasn’t a ton of prosthetic work. I was in and out of the makeup chair in about an hour and a half so it wasn’t really a big deal.”
Speaking the Cody dialogue felt comfortable for her too. “I think she created a whole new dialogue in this movie. It’s definitely outside of the box what you really see in the movie. It’s a different chord with the groove than most films do but it was interesting. It’s interesting words.”
Generally, Fox doesn’t care for bloody gore, but Jennifer’s Body was a little different. “In this movie I feel like we went in, not a cartoonish direction, but we didn’t try to make it gut wrenching, frightening, disgusting to watch. In slasher movies, yeah, I can’t stand to watch the blood and the guts. This isn’t really a horror film. This is a dark comedy that has some horror elements to it. So that’s why.”
At a public event in Hot Topic’s Hollywood location, Fox thanked her fans for their support. “Thank you for coming. We’re so excited, excited for you to see the movie. I think it’s a lot better than you think it is and you’re going to have a lot of fun. It’s going to be f*cking rad!”
