Are you allowed or supposed to change you name once you become a vampire? This topic never seems discussed, though I feel some of the more ordinary names just don't work. It would be hard not to chuckle when you meet a creature of darkness whose name is Bob or Willy, right? Anyway, I kind of feel the same about Darren in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. When you meet this dude hundreds of years later, does he still introduce himself as "Darren." For some reason it's not working for me. Yeah, I'd change my name to something er, older.
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant Trailer
The only reason I'm jumping on the name issue or, more specifically, Darren, is because the first featurette for Vampire's Assistant is all about the character. Played by Chris Massoglia, we learn why Darren was selected to become a vampire above all others. The dude was looking for more than the ordinary, planned life; we get it. The introduction of Darren is actually pretty funny, so check out the entire featurette below (via TrailerAddict):
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant opens to theaters on October 23rd.
