I got to be honest. The only real reason I'm interested in Whip It is because of Ellen Page. Like Zooey Deschanel, I just enjoy looking at this actress on screen. I don't know what it is, maybe the big eyes, but both these ladies have a certain appeal. As added kudos, the film does have a pretty comedic cast; making me wonder if Fox Searchlight uses their ensemble properly. Well, at least they have a damn pretty poster for the film.
Poster + Trailer: Whip It
Whip It, the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, stars Ellen Page as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden plays Bliss' disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig and Juliette Lewis play roller-derby stars.
