Just in case you were beginning to doubt that there would be another installment after Mission Impossible III -- which was my favorite, btw -- Paramount and Tom Cruise have gone out and hired themselves some writers.

Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec Writing Mission Impossible IV

Paramount has hired Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec to write the screenplay for Mission Impossible IV. Though you might not have ever heard of these guys in the film business, they have made a name for themselves by penning Abrams' TV series creations; an example being Alias.

Abrams is also still in the picture, giving the writing duo groundwork to write from.

While we don't know what to expect from the story, we do have Abrams and Cruise committed to produce. Cruise will appear in the film, but it's unknown whether Ethan Hunt will be the title character. Abrams hasn't committed to getting behind the camera just yet, but he is looking forward to putting the film together.

"I've been looking forward to working with Josh and Andre again for years," Abrams said. "Their sense of balance between character and action is wonderful, which I know is hugely important to Tom as well. We're off to an exciting start, so, as usual, fingers crossed."
