Russell Crowe
Lionsgate enjoyed the French film, Pour Elle, so much that they've decided to adapt an English film out of it. To start off on the right foot, Paul Haggis has been picked up to direct and Russell Crowe has been cast to star.
Russell Crowe for The Next Three Days
Titled The Next Three Days, the film will have Crowe play a teacher whose wife is arrested and convicted of a murder she says she did not commit. He comes up with a desperate plan to free her.
Paul Haggis, who you might remember directed Crash, will direct from a script he wrote. Haggis told Daily Variety that the drama needed an actor who can thrive as an Everyman who rises when faced with an extraordinary circumstance, and Crowe was his top choice. "We've seen him as the gladiator, but he has embodied the Everyman in so many pictures," Haggis said.
The film is set to enter production this September in Pittsburgh.
