Taking advantage of his hiatus from The Office, Ed Helms has found time to visit Cedar Rapids.
Ed Helms for Cedar Rapids
Directed by Miguel Arteta off a script by Phil Johnston and produced by Alexander Payne, Cedar Rapids will have Helms play a sad-sack insurance agent who goes to an industry convention to try to save the jobs of his colleague.
Though several studios have shown interest in the production, the deal is expected to go to Fox Searchlight. If you know your Hollywood history, you might remember that Payne has a pre-established relationship with Fox Searchlight from when they distributed his Sideways.
Helms is currently writing with script partner Jake Fleisher an untitled Civil War comedy for Warner Bros. The project will server as a starring vehicle for Helms.
