District 9 Gets Rated R

Since I am one of the many continuously disappointed to see studio's editing down their films in order to make them PG-13, let me start by saying how happy I am that District 9 is rated R. The film already looks awesome, and this is like icing on the cake.

District 9 Rated

The MPAA has rated District 9 R for bloody violence and pervasive language. While the film's teaser trailer suggests action while showing absolutely none, new viral videos in the form of PSAs have begun to surface online and they do look a bit more violent. You can check out a sample of one below.

With District 9 due out this August, I have to admit that I'm getting a bit antsy for the trailer.

District 9 opens to theaters on August 14th.
