Natalie Portman
Remember that supernatural thriller title Black Swan? No? The same project that was setup at Universal back in 2007 and had Darren Aronofsky onboard to direct? Still no? Well, that same project has found a boost in interest after being put into turnaround by the studio.
It also doesn't hurt that Natalie Portman has agreed to play the title character.
Natalie Portman for Black Swan
To get so much interest back into Black Swan, quite a few changes have occurred since Universal was developing it. First off, Mark Heyman has done a rewrite of John McLaughlin's original script.
Black Swan centers on a veteran ballerina (Portman) who finds herself locked in a competitive situation with a rival dancer, with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance. But it's unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply having delusions.
Aronofsky is currently not attached to the project, but he could come back to it if his schedule remains open. Right now the may concern is finding another studio.
