Conan
At least we'll always have that poster (pictured right). Hoping to get out of what can best be described as prolonged development hell, Nu Image/Millennium Films has picked up Marcus Nispel to direct Conan.
Conan Director Found
As shown by Terminator Salvation, some franchises just need Arnold. Trying to recreate what the Governator did way back in 1982 -- I was one then -- Nu Image/Millennium Films has discovered that this project is damn near impossible to get off the ground.
If all goes to plan, the production will begin late this year in Bulgaria and South Africa. To increase the odds of success, Lionsgate is helping co-produce the film. When other studios failed to greenlight Conan, such as Warner Bros, Lionsgate does seem like a good, Hail Mary approach. Especially considering that directors to the likes of Brett Ratner, Robert Rodriguez, and the Wachowski brothers courted the project only to back away later.
While Nispel might not be as big as the names listed, he is no stranger to remakes. The director helped get The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th back up on the silver screen.
