James Franco has been cast to star in the upcoming indie In Praise of Shadows, which will be directed by Jay Anania.

James Franco for In Praise of Shadows

Also written by Anania, In Praise of Shadows tells the story of William Vincent (Franco), and recounts his eccentric and curious journey that brought him back to New York City after four years in exile to rescue the woman he loves from a crime syndicate. The drama will enter production on June 15th in New York City.

I don't know if Jay Anania has anything to prove, but this same person is the head of the directing program at the graduate film school at NYU. So if he does shitty I can only imagine what that will say about the program. But seriously, no pressure Jay.

If anything, at least the helmer can use the film's low budget, marked around $10 million, as an excuse if things go south.
