Where's Waldo
You know the archives have dried up when Where's Waldo? gets acquired for a feature film. No, I'm not joking, as Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are moving forward with a live-action family flick.
Where's Waldo Going Live-Action
Another crazy fact is that the idea to acquire the book(s) was not exactly unique. Warner Bros. also bid for the acquisition, but lost out to Universal's high-six against seven figures deal.
Just in case you're a newborn infant, the Where's Waldo? books contain complex, full-page illustrations of large crowd scenes in which the main character is somewhere hidden, dressed in a red-and-white shirt, a hat, glasses and a walking stick.
Written and illustrated by Martin Handford, the Waldo books have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. So, there is most definitely a fanbase here.
