The next two weeks may be tense in the Howard family. Ron has Angels & Demons in theaters and Bryce Dallas costars in Terminator Salvation on the 21st.

Bryce Dallas Howard Talks Terminator Salvation

“We're going to both give each other a run for our money,” Bryce Dallas Howard joked. “It's kind of great because it's a win win either way. They are two different films. They are opening up a week apart from one another and so there is probably going to be a bit of conflict there. For me I feel like both films did their job. In my opinion I think they're both excellent, excellent films and so in that case it's just that you've done the best job that you can and how audiences respond is just out of your control. I do have to say that the first time I saw Angels & Demons over the holidays I hadn't seen Terminator yet and it was really good. I was like, 'Oh, it's really good. Oh, crap. Congratulations, dad.' Then when I saw Terminator I was also, similarly, like, 'Ooh, this is quite a fun experience. This is really entertaining.' My dad has definitely been asking me, a little incessantly, 'So, how is it? How is the film?' I know there's maybe a slight agenda there. 'What's your strategy? What's the marketing strategy?' But it's all good fun.”

Howard plays Kate Connor, wife of the leader of humanity in the war against the machines. She was surprised to even hear about the part. “McG literally just offered it to me. I didn't even know that there was a role.”

Kate is pregnant in the movie, but we’ll have to wait until the sequel to see baby Connor. Bryce hasn’t even found out the sex yet. “I don’t know. I literally don’t know. I would assume that she does eventually have the child. I just had my baby. I had a pregnant body with no child in it, but it was great because actually McG, when he offered the part to me we didn't meet. It was over the phone and it was actually a wonderfully rushed experience. I was so excited, but then was just kind of waiting to tell him, like, 'I'm not in great shape right now.' I did. I finally said that. He said, 'Oh, that's okay. She's really pregnant. That'll be even better.' So that was good.”

There’s a lot going on in the war against machines and sometimes Kate is just in the background, but Howard feels like all of her work made the final cut. “Having seen the film I think everything I shot pretty much is in there. I mean, you always lose little things here and there, but yeah, that's what was written.”

If there are more futuristic Connor adventures, Howard is up for them. “I would love to. It just depends on how the film is received, and if they're going to do another one and then if I get invited.”

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins opens to theaters on May 21st.
