Frank Sinatra
A biopic on Frank Sinatra? Can't believe this hasn't already been done.
Universal Pictures must be thinking the same thing, as they and Mandalay Pictures are moving quick to make Sinatra, a film that will be directed by Martin Scorsese.
Frank Sinatra Biopic
It turns out that Universal and Mandalay have secretly been working to secure life and music rights from Frank Sinatra Enterprises the last two years. Considering that Hollywood is known for creating similar projects at exactly the same time -- think Armageddon and Deep Impact -- they had every reason to keep this idea quiet.
Phil Alden Robinson has been picked up to write the screenplay.
So who will play Frank Sinatra? Hmm, let's think. Who does Scorcese love using in his films? Leonardo DiCaprio? Probably! DiCaprio has worked with Scorcese on a collection of projects including The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs of New York. The pair have a film on the way titled Shutter Island.
While we do not know how good a singer DiCaprio is, that won't matter. All the music heard will be actual Sinatra recordings.
