I think I will title the results show “Megan Eats Crow”.
Ryan opened by telling us there were 36 million votes cast.
The Ford music video this week was “Mixed Up”. As for the video itself, think of a quirkier version of the end of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White”.
Next up, the group performance. I was not sure I would ever say this, but I actually enjoyed our idols version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”.
We saw a package of a typical week for the Idol contestants – photo shoots, rehearsals, red carpet events, interviews, etc. Not much down time for them.
Now the anticipated “dim the lights here we go” –
American Idol: Top 9 Results
The producers changed it up this week as our contestants formed three groups of three on the stage. Group 1 – Megan, Matt and Kris; Group 2 – Adam, Lil and Allison; Group 3- Scott, Danny and Anoop. Now we were thinking, is one of these groups the top 3, one the middle 3 and one the bottom 3. We will have to wait to find out.
Our reigning American Idol, David Cook, performed his new single “Come Back to Me”. Oh how I miss him. He looked and sounded great. Ryan presented David, on behalf of 19 Entertainment and RCA Records, his award for his debut album going platinum. (Over 1 million copies sold.) David’s proud Mom was in the audience.
Once again, “dim the lights” – Ryan went to the first group and pronounced Kris and Matt safe, Megan to the stools of shame (and at this point made the mistake saying she didn’t care – big mistake); in the next group Lil and Adam safe, Allison to the stools; from the last group Danny and Scott safe, Anoop the last member of the bottom 3.
Now, we were all stunned by the eclectic performance from “Lady Gaga” (someone in my house said Lady Gag gag) of her #1 (where I don’t know) song, “Poker Face”. The zipper could have been over the mouth instead of the left eye. I don’t know what to say.
Allison got her reprieve. Megan was told she was the bottom vote-getter. Simon, in a very curt manner, said she would not be saved, even before she “sang for survival”. It shows you Caw Girl, don’t mess with Simon. Megan got very teary during her Time on Idol package.
How will the Elite 8 do next week with the ‘Year they were Born’ theme? Things are really going to get interesting now. Has your favorite changed? Do you see a different Top 3 now than at the beginning of the competition? American Idol performances Tuesday/ results Wednesday on Fox.
