After a decade of incubating The Three Stooges, it looks like everything is coming together for the Farrelly brothers. With MGM now supporting them, the duo could have their title characters all cast by the end of the week. So who are they in talks with?

Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro The Three Stooges

MGM is in talks with Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro to play The Three Stooges.

Sean Penn has agreed to play Larry, with Jim Carrey looking at Curly. What? Carrey not fat enough for the role? No problem, as he already has it in mind to slap on 40 pounds for the gig. Hey, every actor does the severe weight change once, right?

That leaves only one Stooge left, Moe. MGM is in talks with Del Toro to fill that role.

There is no rush, however, as production on The Three Stooges isn't set to begin until fall 2010. Peter and Bobby Farrelly have already finished a working script.
