Watchmen
Warner Bros. doesn't seem fazed by the early ruling from Judge What's His Nuts, as the studio continues to look forward to the January 20th trial date for Watchmen. As of right now, 20th Century Fox has the upper hand, but they may have only one a single battle in a larger war.
Warner Bros Still Optimistic
"We respectfully but vigorously disagree with the court's ruling and are exploring all of our appellate options," the studio said. "We continue to believe that Fox's claims have no merit and that we will ultimately prevail, whether at trial or in the Court of Appeals. We have no plans to move the release date of the film."
This is obviously the response fans want to hear, allowing Warner Bros. to be seen on the side of good while Fox continues to look like the bad guy. Considering that Fox attorneys have already confirmed that the studio has no problem delaying the release of the film in order to attain their goals, it is easy to see the studio as the villain.
While an early judgment has been made, Warner Bros. has confirmed that they remain confident that Watchmen will remain with them.
Fox issued a measured response, saying, "We are gratified by the recognition of our rights in the judge's order, which speaks for itself."
Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what goes down on and before January 20th.
Watchmen hits theaters on March 6th, 2009.
