Spyglass is currently in talks with Charlize Theron about joining the cast of The Tourist, where she will star opposite Tom Cruise. Since Hollywood has been on short supply of original ideas of late, I'm sure you might have assumed that the film is either an adaptation or a remake. Well, it's the latter, and is based on the 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer.
Charlize Theron for The Tourist
Directed by Bharat Nalluri off a script by Julian Fellowes, The Tourist will have Theron play a female Interpol agent who uses an American tourist in an attempt to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.
The project is currently waiting on a polished script by Christopher McQuarrie, the same scribe who co-wrote the thriller Valkyrie for Bryan Singer. If all goes to plan, production on The Tourist will begin this March.
Charlize Theron, who was last seen confusing the heck out of audiences in Hancock, can next be seen in The Burning Plain and The Road.
