Soul Calibur IV
I like these kinds of fighting games because I don’t really have to know all the nuances of the combos. I just hit buttons and get to see some cool moves go down. I probably instinctively learn what I did to make the things I liked happen, but I can plow through the game exploring different characters' moves.
Soul Calibur IV
Soul Calibur IV continues with everything I remember from the Soul Calibur games. There's lots of variety and a fairly easy flow to things. Of course, I set it to easy (well, the lowest setting here is Medium) just so I can play. I'm sure I couldn't hold a candle to the kids in Vs. mode.
I'm not quite sure Darth Vader is in this game. It's certainly cool to hear the Imperial March and to watch Darth kick little anime girls in the face with his giant boot. His moves actually seem the least cool though. Perhaps I'm not skilled enough, but I got much more dynamic stuff out of the Soul Calibur originals.
I'm not really into the story mode. I'll play through it and skip the cut scenes. Darth's story opens with a whole lot of text. Honestly, I'm playing a fighting game, you want me to read? But the fights, and the Tower mode of game play give me a lot to do as a single player.
There are a few unintentionally disturbing elements. To me, hearing a girlish squeaky squeal when some giant armored muscleman is squatting on top of her suggests more than battle cries to me.
