Dragon Dynasty did such a phenomenal job making those old Shaw Brothers movies look brand new, I wanted to see what they did with one of my favorite Jet Li/Michelle Yeoh movies. Tai Chi Master wasn’t restored quite like the Shaw Brothers series, but it was well preserved.

DVD Review: Tai Chi Master

Like most Hong Kong films from the ‘90s or thereabouts, there’s not much color to speak of. It’s all washed out with film that looks decades older than it actually was. All the historical outfits and period villages are muted.

It is a clean print though. Previous versions of this and other films are full of dirt and scratches. So they cleaned it up in that you won’t be distracted by spots while you’re mesmerized by the wires pulling the martial artists around the scene.
