Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
It took me a while to finally get Guitar Hero: Aerosmith but it was eagerly awaited. Not only do I love Aerosmith, but I just needed more tracks for Guitar Hero. DLC hasn't had much to interest me since the "Peace of Mind/Anyway You Want It" pack. I would have taken Guitar Hero: Backstreet Boys at this point.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
It really shouldn't be so long in between Guitar Hero filler editions. I mean, an actual update like the upcoming World Tour is cool, but this is a well oiled machine that can keep going. Bands now see how the franchise is saving music, so it shouldn't be hard to come up with band-centric or themed collections.
GH:A emphasizes older Aerosmith tracks, which is probably a plus for their fans. I'm of the "Get a Grip" error so I missed a few, but they are good choices. Even the songs that aren't my favorite have fantastic chord patterns and note melodies like "Uncle Salty" and "Draw the Line." "Cryin'" may be awesome but it's probably a simple, repetitive game track.
They throw a few extra songs in the vault that you can buy with your winnings. Most of these are Joe Perry solo tracks, but there are a few 'Smith ones.
The career path seems to be for each tier, to play two covers before unlocking Aerosmith, then do two Aerosmith songs and an Aerosmith encore. That works. A startup band might have to cover another band's song.
The touches of Aerosmith history are neat, though I would just plow through the game itself. I don't really need the "Behind the Music" interludes, and it seems like they struggled to edit coherent soundbites together. But the locations are relevant. Mainly it's just great Guitar Hero music and I'll line up for Guitar Hero: Metallica, Guitar Hero: NSync or Guitar Hero: Douchebag Hits. Would it be too much to ask for Guitar Hero: Bon Jovi? Seriously, I love them.
