Of course You Don't Mess with the Zohan includes a part for Rob Schneider. Sandler's SNL buddy plays an Arab immigrant who recognizes the Zohan from his days as an Israeli secret agent.
Rob Schneider Excited to Take Down the Zohan
"I was just excited about it because I knew there was a great area to mine for humor that people hadn't been seeing before," said Schneider. "That was what excited them and that was what excited me was like oh my god, there are so many great jokes there. That was the fun working with Robert Smigel on Saturday Night Live. When he does the character and stuff like it's fun and it makes him laugh, it's like oh my god, I couldn't wait for that."
This story of The Zohan's journey to become a New York hair stylist does address the political situation in Israel. Schneider gives the filmmakers props for not sugar coating it.
"I was proud of Robert and Adam and Sony frankly for doing a film without making it out of Alastackastan. This is Israelibad, no. That was a choice that other people could have been made, and it was talked about, but they didn’t waiver from it. It is funnier."

That said, Schneider is not sure about the film's reception abroad. "We don't have the date for the Damascus premiere yet. We're still in discussions with Sony Damascus. They decide when that is released there."
Schneider and Sandler go back a long time, but Schneider says little has changed. "As opposed to our Saturday Night Live days, Adam could buy and sell me 10 times as opposed to one and a half times. I will tell you how he hasn’t changed. I don’t see a lot of change except he could buy and sell me. He’s still laughing at stuff. He's still thrilled and having fun with it."
You Don't Mess with the Zohan opens to theatres on June 6th.
