After busting open the box office with the fourth installment of Indiana Jones, Paramount is looking to its personal library for more sequels. Since the whole buddy-cop genre hasn't been that played out, the studio is hoping to find success in a fourth Beverly Hills Cop.
Eddie Murphy for Beverly Hills Cop 4
Paramount Pictures already has Eddie Murphy onboard to reprise his role as Detroit detective Axel Foley, with Brett Ratner currently in negotiations to direct.
The studio is working to have the cast and crew wrapped up for a 2009 production start; with the goal of having Beverly Hills Cop IV become a summer 2010 tentpole.
Though Jerry Bruckheimer produced the entire trilogy of Beverly Hills Cop, he will not be actively involved with the fourth installment.
It was Murphy who had hoped for another installment, and Paramount was eager to remain close to the actor after he finished Nowhereland.
