American Idol American Idol
Well, it is sayonara Syesha and hello to the David vs. David finale.

Ryan informed us at the open there were 56 million votes cast this week.

Our Top 3 performed the disco hit, “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” by McFadden and Whitehead. Once again the singing was good, the dancing was suspect.

The Ford video, “Heaven” followed.

We saw the recap of last night’s show which included clips from all three rounds.

American Idol: Top 3 Elimination Round

Season 3 American Idol winner, Fantasia, (now sporting red hair, I mean bright Woody Woodpecker hair) gave a frenetic performance. The look on Simon’s face was priceless. His mouth was agape – his chin practically on the table top. Yes, Simon this is the Season 3 American Idol. Was it just me or could anyone understand a single word she was singing.

Ryan called out David Archuleta. We saw his hometown visit to Murray, UT. The mayor declared it David Archuleta Day. There were appearances on TV, radio, the mall, his high school. He cried – actually all of the contestants cried in their packages. This must be more stressful and emotional than we can imagine. But I have to say, if he says ‘gosh’ one more time I’ll puke. This was followed by the taped package of David’s “Idol Journey”.

Syesha Mercado’s hometown visit was up next. The county commissioner acknowledged the day as Syesha Mercado Day in Sarasota, FL. She also had a day filled with appearances and a helicopter ride. Then she cried. Next played Syesha’s “Idol Journey”.

Last, but not least, was David Cook’s hometown visit to Blue Springs, MO. A Missouri state representative pronounced it to be David Cook Day. A day packed with appearances ensued, TV, radio, a downtown performance, a visit to his elementary school (he acknowledged his music teacher) and a parade. The day was capped off by throwing out the opening pitch at a Kansas City Royal baseball game. David’s “Idol Journey” package reminded us he had gone to the auditions in Omaha to support his little brother Andrew.

It was now time for the elimination. Our Top 3 were center stage holding hands. Ryan told us the two contestants that would be competing in next week’s finale would be David Archuleta and David Cook. This was the end of the road for Syesha. She sang “If I Ain’t Got You” and to her credit was very composed.

Well, Idol Fans, next week we will have the much anticipated David vs. David Finale. Who will win it all? Performances Tuesday – Results Wednesday on Fox.
