American Idol American Idol
Bye Bye Brooke. We now have the Final Four.

The show opened with Ryan talking about Tuesday having been the ‘strangest’ Idol yet. He eluded to the “Paulagate” controversy. The buzz created by the night also garnered the contestants 45 million votes!

Next up was the Neil Diamond tribute. The producers went back to the medley format. The Fab 5 sang “Cracklin’ Rosie”, “Song Sung Blue”, “Hot August Night” and “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show”. (Tell me again why David Cook did not choose this song for performance night?)

The recap of last night’s performances showed the emotion without the controversy.

Ryan took on some of the buzz from Tuesday night. He said the rumors were not true (which rumors specifically?). Paula is part of our family and we love her. And he still thinks Simon wants to ‘hook up’ with her. So rest assured all is right in the AI world.

Now to the elimination –

Jason Castro was ushered to the sofa of safety.

David Archuleta was deemed safe and acted so surprised. (puleez)

The theme for next week’s show will be The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Each contestant will perform two songs from classic rock. Shameless plug for Season 4 of “So You Think You Can Dance” – Randy showcases the winning Coke cup design – let’s get to the good stuff.

Ok, David Cook came out next. Could there Chris Daughtry mojo be in play here – no David is safe. That left us with Syesha Mercado and Brooke White in the bottom two. They would have to wait to hear their fate until later in the show.

Natasha Bettingfield performed “Take Me Away”.

The stupid phone call segment led to the most interesting tidbit of the season. The first girl Simon kissed at age 9,Tara Miller, called in. Can we say cute but awkward? Ryan warned the 9 year olds in the viewing audience 9 is too young to be kissing.

Ford Video with a green theme for Ford hybrids.

Neil Diamond performed “Pretty Amazing Grace” from his Home Before Dark album that drops May 6th.

At last, Brooke was told she would be going home. A tearful Brooke, struggled through “I Am, I Said”.

Well, Idol fans, we are down to the Final 4. Who will ‘rock’ our world next week? Performances Tuesday – Results Wednesday on Fox. Performances by Maroon 5 and Bo Bice.
