Now that director Anand Tucker has dropped off the upcoming fantastical adaptation of The Golden Compass he has found some time to pick up other, smaller projects. One such project is the adaptation of Blake Morrison's bestselling memoir about his relationship with his dad -- And When Did You Last See Your Father?.

According to Variety, Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth have been picked up by Number 9 Films and FilmFour to play the leading roles in the upcoming adaptation And When Did You Last See Your Father?.

Broadbent will play the father from age 35 to his death at 70. Firth will play the adult Morrison.

Tucker made his debut in 1998 with Hilary and Jackie, another movie about real-life family relationships (cello virtuoso Jacqueline du Pre and sister Hilary). He directed last year's Steve Martin comedy Shopgirl.

Produced by Elizabeth Karlsen, the film is set to shoot in the U.K. this fall.

Stay tuned for updates.
