Here is a brief update for all you fans singing "A Pirates Life for Me." After Johnny Depp admitted to Newsweek that he would love to create more Pirates of the Caribbean sequels after the third installment (World's End?), we now have Jerry Bruckheimer admitting that he would like to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to be one of many films instead of one episode in a trilogy.
Pirates Sequels with Bruckheimer
As we mentioned on the report with Johnny Depp (here), Pirates 2 is looking to kick our asses and dominate the box office. With what looks to be a guaranteed success from a genre that normally gets no love (Bloody Pirates!), Jerry Bruckheimer recently admitted that he is also having too good of time on set and that it will be hard for him to pull away from the Pirates franchise.
While channel surfing this last Monday I came across Access Hollywood and the show claimed to have an exclusive video interview with Johnny Depp for the upcoming Pirates sequel. Intrigued, I sat down for what I thought was coming right after the commercial . It turns out that Access Hollywood tricked me and made me wait until the second half of the show before approaching the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest special.
So, what did I learn?
Well, besides hearing Johnny Depp say how much he loved the character Jack Sparrow, like he did in the Newsweek article, the major bonus came during the few seconds that Jerry Bruckheimer had on the screen. We now know that Johnny Depp is game for more sequels, but what about Bruckheimer?
"We wouldn't be all back here, not if Johnny didn't want to play this character again. Hopefully he will want to play it again because we love making these movies."
Depp's in, Bruckheimer is in. Sounds like a hell of a start to get more Pirates films (after installment number three) into production.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest opens to theatres everywhere on
