Training Day Training Day
King Kong ain’t got nothin’ on HD-DVD, at least not until King Kong actually comes out on HD-DVD. Training Day is a solid HD-DVD. Not a particularly colorful movie, set in the inner city, there are still plenty of opportunity to show off the clarity of HD-DVD on a large HDTV like my 56” JVC.

Training Day HD DVD Review

The city skyline outlines every single building and close-ups show all the emotive pore on Denzel Washington’s Oscar-winning face. A smoky haze fogs up a lot of the scenes, but at choice lighting hours you can see the details. As the day wears on you can see the different lighting effects of dusk and full dark on similar environments.

The slick undercover car shines like it’s reflecting the light in your home kitchen. Closeups on the concrete walls reveal every little protrusion. Training Day is not a rainbow of visuals, but it’s real and it looks real on HD-DVD.

Stay tuned for updates.
