There have been so many clips that claim to be test footage for Transformers that we have stopped paying attention. At the end of last week, however, we were alerted to a giant video file that looked like a legit effort at creating realistic looking morphing action.
We attempted to compress the video but couldn't create a perfect copy. Noticing failure, we patted ourselves on the back and assumed that the footage was most likely 'fake' and not directly linked to the film currently in production under Michael Bay.
Well, it now turns out that the footage may actually be legit and somebody was kind enough to compress the file down a bit.
Transformers CGI Test
We were initially told that the Transformers footage we were watching over at 3dblasphemy had nothing to do with the upcoming Transformers: Movie. Blackfilm, on the other hand, seems to think that the footage is actually a CGI test that was created in preparation of the film.
Either way, the clip still looks pretty damn cool.
You can check out multiple versions of the clip at 3dblasphemy or watch the clip online over at Blackfilm.
Update: Not really an update, just a clarification. If you check out the 3d website listed, you will see that the video was created by a graphic artist to help out his portfolio. Deductive reasoning would assume that this video was NOT created specifically for the Transformers: Movie. Though there are some who claim that this guy is similar to the kid who made the homemade Star Wars clips and then was picked up by George Lucas for the actual final installment, there has been absolutely no confirmation on that. Assume it's doubtful, especially since the entire scene is CG, not a mix of live-action and CG like Michael Bay plans to do.
Transformers release date is set for July 4th, 2007.
