I don't know if we'd call this an adaptation, a remake, or both, but Warner Bros wants to bring the futuristic family The Jetsons to life.
According to Variety, Warner Bros has picked up Donald De Line to produce and Adam F. Goldberg to write the script for a live-action version of The Jetsons.
The story has been in development for years by Denise Di Novi, who has teamed up with multiple writers in hopes of a feature film.
Storyline will be based on the popular animated Hanna-Barbera TV show, which revolved around the travails of George Jetson, wife Jane, daughter Judy, son Elroy and their dog, Astro.
Though I fear we might have another Scooby-Doo on our hands, the market for The Jetsons shows strength. Back in 1990 the animated film, Jetsons: The Movie, produced by Hanna-Barbera, was able to pull in $20.3 million domestically.
Donald De Line has been working with Warner Bros for some time on other comedies including Penetration in conjunction with Scott Free.
Scribe Adam Goldberg is responsible for the screenplay of the upcoming film Fanboys from The Weinstein Company.
