The Hookup Handbook The Hookup Handbook
It was only a couple days ago when we announced that Dimension Films was already planning on the next big chick-flick by acquiring the film rights to The Hookup Handbook: A Single Girl's Guide to Living It Up. As I mentioned before, guys around the world did a quick shiver thinking we had another He's Just Not That Into You on the way.

Lucky for us, the Handbook seems to be more similar to Sex and the City rather than How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days; which even guys can like.

After doing our report on the adaptation, Dimension Films has sent over the press release below.

Dimension Reads The Hookup Handbook

Dimension Films has acquired the underlying rights to the book “The Hookup Handbook: A Single Girl’s Guide to Living It Up” written by Andrea Lavinthal and Jessica Rozler, and will produce a hilarious and insightful comedy based on the book. Alyssa Embree, Jessica Koosed, and Stacey Harman will adapt the screenplay and Peter Riche (“Tomcats”), Alan Riche (“Starsky & Hutch”) and Wendy Riche (“Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County”) from Riche Productions are set to produce. There is no director or cast attached to the project yet.

Loosely based on the popular book "The Hookup Handbook; A Single Girls Guide to Living it Up" comes a comical tale of three very different young women for whom traditional dating is a thing of the past. In this irreverent and provocative comedy, the pursuit of “the hookup” leads to some unlikely friendships with one another and a series of life-changing romantic adventures.

Peter Riche said, “This book cuts like a laser right to the heart of what’s going on with today’s young people and the way they relate to each other on an emotional level.

Richard Saperstein, head of production for Dimension Films and Matthew Stein, senior vice president of production, will oversee the project on behalf of Dimension Films. Embree, Koosed and Harman are currently writing “Jingle Belle” for Happy Madison Productions, and their pilot “Kiss & Tell” is in development at the CW with Touchstone & Shady Acres producing.

Lumumba Mosquera, senior vice president of business and legal affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of Dimension Films. Steven Burkow from Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca & Fischer negotiated on behalf of Peter, Alan and Wendy Riche. Patti Felker from Nelson Felker Toczek Davis negotiated for Alyssa Embree, Stacey Harman and Jessica Koosed. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein from The Gotham Group negotiated the underlying book rights on behalf of authors Jessica Rozler and Andrea Lavinthal. Alyssa Embree, Stacey Harman and Jessica Koosed are repped by UTA.

Stay tuned for updates.
