Disturbing Photos from Silent Hill

TriStar Pictures has recently released two disturbing promotional images for their upcoming film Silent Hill. Though TriStar continues to claim that the two images are, well, images, they both look pretty close to a poster to me.

Silent Hill Promo Posters

Two promotional images/posters were released to the internet early Wednesday and we have to admit that they look pretty cool. I have kept my reservations on Silent Hill ever since it entered production. For some reason video game adaptations that include the element of horror usually don't turn out so hot. Anyone remember Alone in the Dark? Yes, I know the movie was directed by Uwe Boll, but that still doesn't mean that there isn't a troubling trend here.

The one major perk that Silent Hill does have going for it is the great Sean Bean. We like to think that this actor does not choose horrid films and, if it does turn out to be bad, we will have to assume he was tricked onto production.

Below are small versions of the recently released images to appear over at Comingsoon and AICN.

Besides the promotional images, TriStar has recently updated the official synopsis for the film as well.

The eerie and deserted ghost town of Silent Hill draws a young mother desperate to find a cure for her only child's illness. Unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalized for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers -- and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean).

It's soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realizes that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.

Silent Hill comes to theatres on April 21st.
