Crash Crash surprises and bitch-slaps Brokeback Mountain
Now that the 78th Academy Awards have finished after what we figured would be a record three days (I kid), audiences were left with some surprises, some guarantees, and who the hell is Jon Stewart?

78th Annual Academy Award Winners

One of the 'risky' moves by the Academy for the 2006 Academy Awards was having Jon Stewart-- whose popularity exploded during 'Indecision 2004' -- host the awards show.

Though Stewart had a rough start, the Comedy Central alum was able to later find his groove and express a renewed comfort with the audience; I especially appreciated his 'for the folks who are keeping score at home' comments.

Besides Stewart, the audience and viewers at home received a few surprises such as the small sweep, including choice for Best Picture, going to Crash.

Below is your winners list for the 78th Annual Academy Awards.

A couple things to point out:

-March of the Penguins gets its final kick of love.
-King Kong was the winter in Narnia.
-"For those keeping score at home-- Martin Scorsese zero, 'Three Six Mafia' one." (Jon Stewart)

There wasn't any one film that had a chance to sweep this year's Academy Awards. Though Brokeback Mountain looked like it was gaining momentum with Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Score, it could not handle Crash for choice of Best Picture.
