The 40 Year-Old Virgin vs Wedding Crashers
When you write so many articles per month you begin to hope that you are in touch with your readers. However, back when AFI released their TOP TEN FILMS OF 2005 I took a serious kick to the nuts. Among the list are great choices such as King Kong, Brokeback Mountain, A History of Violence and Crash. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, the 2005 comedy starring Steve Carell, The 40 Year-Old Virgin, blipped onto the list.
I understand that AFI may have been looking to throw a comedy on the list, but what the hell happened to the box office smash Wedding Crashers?
So, after scratching my head on the decision by AFI, I have decided that the biggest (Hollywood) mystery of 2005 was AFI's choice of adding a Virgin to the Top Ten.
40 Year-Old Virgin vs. Wedding Crashers
First off, I didn't think The 40 Year-Old Virgin was anywhere near a Top Ten film. However, I was further in disbelief that AFI considered it a better movie than Wedding Crashers.
After AFI's decision, I immediately began to wonder if moviegoers felt the same way towards the two comedies and eventually (last night) created a poll where people can vote on which film is better.
How do the results look so far? According to the stats 70% of our voters like 40 Year-Old Virgin better.
I am beginning to think I may be out of touch with our readers on these two comedies and am curious to see how the polls look by the end of the week.
