Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
I was introduced to Command and Conquer in college when the newfangled Ethernet made it possible to play against people in other rooms. It was addicting enough for me to play alone because I didn't drink or vomit. By the time Red Alert came out, I was sort of outgrowing it, and I certainly don't play PC games now that I have all my business on the system. But the demo of Red Alert 3 looks pretty damn cool.
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
It's the familiar action/strategy format, 3D birds eye view. Graphics are definitely upgraded to high definition, and seeing the detail in water, rippling waves and sea foam with rocks hidden under the surface, definitely feels like an improvement.
Constructing bases and maneuvering spies to capture radar towers, or vehicles to go gain ground feels familiar. The sea component feels totally new, as it is an addition to this version. Some of the high concept, fanciful vehicles launching paratroopers and such are awesome.
The coolest aspect seems to be the third, Asian campaign. They have some mechs that look like full on Robotech. I'm not too concerned what the story is. If I can send battle mechs after CPU enemies or multiplayer opponents, I may just be tempted to add Red Alert 3 at least to my laptop, if not my home business system.
