It is a sad day for television sketch comedy. According to Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy's older brother made famous through the sketches known as 'True Hollywood Stories with Charlie Murphy', has announced that we should stop waiting for the third season of the highly anticipated Chappelle's Show as it is not going to happen.

No More Chappelle's Show

What began as a strange turn of events when Dave Chappelle went on a 'spiritual retreat' to South Africa, turns out that that was the first nail in the coffin for Chappelle's Show. According to Associated Press, Charlie Murphy, a star on Chappelle's Show, has finally come out and admitted that the popular show will not be continuing into the third season. I personally find this news a little odd considering that the next season of Chappelle is half way finished. In an announcement, Charlie Murphy had this to say about the end of Chappelle's Show to TV Guide:

Chappelle's Show is over, man. Done. It took me a long time to be able to say those words, but I can say it pretty easy now, because it's the truth.

I'm disappointed it ended the way it did, but I'm not angry with anybody. Chappelle's Show was like the Tupac of TV shows. It came out, it got everybody's attention, it was a bright shining star, but it burned out and for some strange reason, it burned out quick.

I have to assume that Charlie Murphy has known of the news for some time considering the fact that he had already begun a stand-up comedy tour; he stopped off at the Improv in my town a little while back. Will Charlie Murphy miss the show that turned him from an Eddie Murphy stunt double to a comedic star or is he ready to pursue other options? This is what he said on life after Chappelle.

Now I can go out and do stand-up. I'm getting movie offers. It's off the hook. Me getting to the next level or whatever's going to happen is going to come from the next things I do, but Chappelle's Show served its purpose and I'll always be grateful.

Everybody raise your glasses in a toast for a prosperous future for Charlie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, and everyone else who made the Comedy Central show what it was.

As a sign of hope, Comedy Central said they would always be open to Dave Chappelle coming back to resume Chappelle's Show.

Stay tuned for updates.
