Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor is just cool. Ever since I saw him play the character Renton in the dark comedy about drugs and heroine titled Trainspotting, I could only think how cool this Ewan McGregor guy was. A dirt bag maybe, but cool just the same.

While I had expected more films like Trainspotting from Ewan McGregor since he seemed to enjoy the roel, I couldn't have been more wrong. Turning a cheek to the film that caught our attention, McGregor decided to look for other genres of film. In came a couple of dramas such as Emma, but they would be nothing compared to Ewan McGregor's role in the new trilogy of Star Wars. Ewan McGregor was perfect for the part of young Obi-Wan and was able to conform his character with each additional film. By the time Revenge of the Sith came to theatres we had a young Obi-Wan that looked and acted exactly like a young Alec Guinness would.

Ewan McGregor had considered not taking the role of Obi-Wan in the new Star Wars trilogy due to the time it would take and the fear of being typecast to later films. However, after a discussion with his uncle, who played the pilot Wedge in the original Star Wars trilogy, McGregor decided that he would take his career to the stars.

Even though Star Wars did offer a hectic schedule, Ewan McGregor was able to take a time out for roles such as Christian in Moulin Rouge! [very underrated] with Nicole Kidman and the questioning soldier Spec. John Grimes in Black Hawk Down.

Ewan McGregor's latest film, The Island, allowed McGregor to drop the Obi-Wan beard and go back to being what he is-- cool.

Memorable Moments

-Obi-Wan is forced to confront Anakin after his turn to the dark side. The lightsaber duel concludes with Obi-Wan lopping all but one of Anakin's limbs off while he admits that he loved him. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

-Renton is forced to go off of heroine after over-dosing. The effects of the tremors are enough to push anyone away from drugs. Trainspotting

-Christian wins over the heart of Satine by singing her a song melody that includes 'Your Song.' Oh yea, he's also got a 'huge talent.' Moulin Rouge!

-Lincoln Six Echo confronts the original host Tom Lincoln. The scene involves Ewan McGregor playing two roles communicating and interacting with, well, himself. A very nice effect that McGregor does with ease. The Island
