Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman
Call me young, but Morgan Freeman didn't first catch my attention up until 1989; he has been doing his thing since the mid sixties. Then, in 1989, Morgan Freeman had a huge bread-out year with films that included Lean on Me, Driving Miss Daisy, and the sensational Glory.
Of all the films listed, Glory easily tops the list. Freeman's role as Sgt. Maj. John Rawlins was so well done and played out, that Morgan Freeman was able to easily stand out next to actors such as Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, and Cary Elwes. Glory is easily one of the best Civil War movies out there. And a great soundtrack from Jmes Horner too!
Morgan Freeman quickly popped back up in the Kevin Costner adventure Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Again, Morgan Freeman easily plays his part and is able to throw in a few laughs along the way.
From Robin Hood on, Morgan Freeman has had tons of great films including Unforgiven, The Shawshank Redemption, Outbreak, Se7en, Kiss the Girls, Amistad, Deep Impact [not so good, but Freeman got to be president], Million Dollar Baby, Unleashed, and now up to Batman Begins.
Morgan Freeman also has about five other films on the way.
One of the things about Morgan Freeman is that he never stars in films, but rather co-stars or supports. That is what he does, and he is great at it.
